Key Facts

Important Grant Information

Schemes run until 31 March 2027 — the government has confirmed this is the final extension year. If you're eligible, apply sooner rather than later.

Your charger must not be installed before OZEV confirms eligibility — if it is, the grant can be refused.

Only OZEV approved charger models are eligible — all chargers we install are on the approved list.

No advance payments or deposits — OZEV requires that installers do not seek or accept payments before installation.

The grant covers up to 75% of costs, capped at £500 — the actual amount depends on your total installation cost.

Homeowners with driveways are not eligible — the residential grant is for renters, flat owners, and landlords only (since April 2022).

Photo evidence is required — from April 2026, installer claims must include photos of the installed chargepoint, serial number, parking space, and wider surroundings.

Common Questions

EV Charger Grant FAQs

Your questions about the OZEV EV charger grant, answered. If yours isn't here, just give us a call.

Am I eligible for the EV charger grant?

If you rent your home, own and live in a flat, are a landlord, or run a business — yes, you're likely eligible. Homeowners who own their property outright and have a driveway are not eligible for the residential grant (this changed in April 2022). Contact us and we can help you check.

How much is the OZEV grant worth?

Up to £500 per socket for residential installations and the Workplace Charging Scheme. The grant covers up to 75% of the total cost of purchasing and installing the chargepoint. State-funded schools can receive up to £2,000 per socket.

Do I need to apply for the grant myself?

For renters and flat owners, yes — from April 2026, you apply directly through the government's Find a Grant platform. For businesses using the Workplace Charging Scheme, the process is different. Either way, we'll guide you through it and provide everything you need for the application.

How long does the grant application take?

OZEV estimates up to 10 working days to assess applications, provided all the required documents are submitted correctly. We'll help you get your application right first time to avoid delays.

Can I get my charger installed before the grant is approved?

No — your charger must not be installed until OZEV confirms your eligibility. If it's installed too early, the grant will be refused. We'll schedule your installation as soon as approval comes through.

Which chargers are eligible for the grant?

Only chargers on the OZEV approved model list are eligible. All chargers we install (Sync Energy, Zappi, Ohme, Hypervolt, and Evec) are on the approved list.

I own my home and have a driveway — can I get the grant?

Unfortunately not. The residential grant was restricted to renters, flat owners, and landlords in April 2022. However, if you run a business, you may be eligible for the Workplace Charging Scheme grant for chargers at your workplace. Our standard installation prices start from £750 — see our full cost guide.

Is the grant available for commercial properties?

Yes — the Workplace Charging Scheme offers up to £500 per socket for businesses, charities, and public sector organisations. You can apply for up to 40 sockets across all your sites. See our commercial EV charging page for more details.

How long will the grant be available?

The current schemes have been extended until 31 March 2027. The government has described this as a "final year" extension, so if you're eligible, it's worth applying sooner rather than later.
